The purpose of the Evaluation of Faculty Teaching Performance under PC-TAL-WI.01 is to assess the faculty member's instructional delivery and evaluate their performance as teachers. This activity, which comprises the evaluation and observation of faculty in a classroom setting, is a part of the Work Instructions of the Program Chairperson, which are conducted twice during an academic year.
Prior to the classroom observation, the program chairperson prepares the Schedule of Observation Form once per semester and forwards it to the Office of the Dean for approval. The approved communication is being disseminated to all concerned faculty members and has it acknowledged by the latter. In the conduct of the classroom observation based on the approved schedule, the program chairperson sits- in during the class discussion and checks on the course syllabus and class records of the faculty being observed.
The faculty is being evaluated using the Classroom Observation Form with the evaluation criteria for Lesson (25%), Content (25%), Teaching Methods (20%), Classroom Management (10%), and Questioning Skills (20%). The faculty is rated on a scale of 1 (Poor) to 5 (Outstanding). The mean scores are determined per evaluation criteria and summed up for the overall Classroom Observation Rating (COR).
Also, part of the evaluation process is the Strengths Observed and the recommended Areas for Improvement by the program chairperson to the faculty observed. At the end of the classroom observation, the program chairperson discusses the result of the evaluation to the faculty concerned and has the form signed by the faculty as conformity to the result. The accomplished Classroom Observation Forms are compiled by the program chairperson and forwards it together with the summary to the Office of the Dean for filing
An evaluation instrument is used by the chairperson to rate the performance of the faculty under observation. This instrument has five parts and each part has weighted mean necessary for computation of the final rating.
The review of examination questionnaires aims to ensure the quality of the content, format, and coverage of the examination questionnaire delivered to the students during midterm and endterm for each semester. The program chairperson conducts this special work instruction session prior to the planned term examination.
The program chairperson collects the examination questionnaire submitted by the faculty at least 3 days before the scheduled term examination. In order to acknowledge receipt of the exam questionnaire, the faculty signs the logbook or monitoring form that is issued by the program chairperson. The exam questionnaire is checked by the program chairperson against the table of specifications to make sure it contains the topics included in the course syllabus, the test items required for higher order thinking skills, and the test formats/types that are appropriate for the program and course.
Then, the program chairperson returns the reviewed questionnaire to the respective faculty with acknowledgment of the examination review form. For any comments or corrections, the exam questionnaire will be returned to the respective faculty for revisions. Lastly, the program chairperson submits the acknowledged examination review form and the corrected examination questionnaire to the Dean for approval and reproduction.
In order to develop the procedure for screening new students and transferees, the PC-TAL-WI.03 was created. This task is a component of the Program Chairperson's Work Instructions, which are carried out at the start of the academic year and apply to undergraduate students.
The screening of new incoming student applicants and transferees from other schools is one of the duties of the program chairs. The chairperson is responsible for verifying each applicant's credentials, including copies of their Form 138 (Report Card), Transcript of Records (for transferees), and medical certificate.
& 1 pc. 2x2 ID photograph. The chair then conducts interviews and issues the admission slip for the selected applicants after the students pass the initial screening. Regarding transfers, the chair completes the form for course crediting and designates the course that will be credited. Then, it generates a list of qualified candidates for the Dean's approval, proposes the credited courses, and sends the admission form to the qualified students.
The procedure for processing admission and evaluating a student's undergraduate program includes evaluating their academic progress. Before enrollment, students should be evaluated by the program chairperson to identify the subjects that they will take within the specific semester.
The program chairperson keeps records of and evaluates the students' grades based on the prospectus, the rating report generated by the registrar's office, and/or the retention policy, if applicable. The program chairperson will then provides the students' loading slip, which includes the courses they've chosen to enroll in for the forthcoming semester, the course code, course title, number of units, and the section of the student.
The chairperson's copy of the students' loading slip is maintained on file, and the registrar's copy is forwarded to the registrar's office. Moreover, the program would consider any student requests for subjects to be withdrawn or added before submission to the registrar's office.
The purpose of this work procedure is to establish the process of review, revision and endorsement of the curriculum. The Dean together with the Program Chairpersons ensure that the current curriculum is in consonance with the requirements of Policies, Standards and Guidelines of the programs.
The curriculum review commences with the Dean reviewing the proposed curriculum submitted by the Program Chairperson or the Coordinator. After careful review of the proposed curriculum, the Dean then organizes for a stakeholders’ consultative meeting where members from the other HEIs are invited, so too with the alumni, industry experts, and students. Their inputs are considered in the final preparation of the proposed curriculum. The proposed curriculum is being presented to the Local Academic Council for comments and suggestions before it is presented to the Academic Council. Once the proposed curriculum is endorsed by the Academic Council, it is being endorsed by the ACAD to the members of the Board of Trustees for approval. Once the curriculum is approved, the Deans together with the Chairpersons, implement the approved curriculum.
The PC-TAL-WI.06 aims to establish the process in assigning teaching load to the faculty members of the undergraduate programs. This function is part of the Work Instructions of the Program Chairperson which covers the teaching load assignment. It is being done at the beginning of each semester within the Academic Year.
The program chairperson’s responsibilities are to prepare the course offerings for each term whether it is on a regular semester or during summer. After all the courses to be offered had been identified, the chair identifies the faculty who will teach the course. He or she then fills out the faculty teaching load form and submits this to the Dean for review. After review of the Dean and if there are revisions, the chair incorporates the correction of the Dean in the final load form
The PC-TAL-WI.07 aims to establish the procedure for the review and revision of syllabi. The Program Chairperson is responsible for scheduling the review and revision of syllabi in each semester.
The Program Chairperson will prepare the courses that are offered each semester and schedule the review and revision of syllabi before the classes will start. The review and revision of syllabi involve the Dean, Program chairperson, faculty proponents, and an internal panel and it has two phases. In Phase 1, the proponents will present their course syllabi to the panels, and upon review, the members of the panel will make suggestions and recommendations to improve the course syllabi of the program. Review forms will be given out to the panel and will be submitted to the Program Chairperson for feedback that will be provided to the faculty. The faculty will be given 2 weeks to comply with all the necessary recommendations by the panels.
After 2 weeks, Phase 2 of the review will be conducted where the panels will ensure that the faculty complied with the suggestions and recommendations given during Phase 1. If the panels agree that the course syllabi are approved, then the members of the committee will signed on the course syllabi.
The PC-TAL-WI.07 aims to establish the procedure for the review of the instructional materials. The Program Chairperson is responsible for scheduling the review of the instructional materials upon readiness of the faculty.
The College of Business Management and Accountancy follows an instituted procedure in reviewing the Instructional Materials used by the faculty. First, the program chair gives course module assignments to the faculty. Then, the program chair creates the IMRC or the Instructional Materials Review Committee which is composed of a committee chair (usually the program chair), two faculty members (preferably teaching the course), an editor, and an external panel.
The program chair sets the schedule for the review and provides the panel with copies of the module, course syllabus, and needed forms to be accomplished, such as the Instrument for Evaluating IMs form (CIMD-TAL-F.01-Rev-3), Comments/Suggestions for Improvement of IMs form (CIMD-TAL-F.02-Rev-0). Next, the IMRC conducts the module review with the proponent and submits the accomplished forms to the chair after the review. The proponent is given a copy of the accomplished forms to implement the recommendations given by IMRC. Then, the proponent submits revised IMs to the editor. Next, the proponent submits the module to the program chair for the final evaluation of IMRC. When the IMRC is done evaluating the revised module, the IMRC may now issue a Certificate of Utilization.
