Advanced Placement (AP) Math is fast paced as it combines three years of mathematics into two school years. 7th grade AP Math will cover all of the 7th grade Common Core standards as well as half of the 8th grade standards. 8th grade AP Math will cover all of the Algebra 1 Common Core standards as well as the other half of the 8th grade standards.
Students coming into 7th Grade Advanced Math/Pre-Algebra should already be proficient in the following skills:
1) Add/Subtract/Multiply/Divide: Positive Numbers, Negative Numbers, Fractions, & Mixed Numbers.
2) Perform Order of Operations involving groupings & exponents
3) Solve equations with a variable on one side.
4) Find the perimeter & area of parallelograms, triangles, & trapezoids.
Websites under Online Resources tabs are helpful in these areas. For instance, help/practice with order of operations can be found under the following links:

Students coming into 8th Grade Advanced Math/Algebra 1 should already be proficient in the following skills:
1) Add/Subtract/Multiply/Divide: Integers, Fractions, & Mixed Numbers.
2) Perform Order of Operations involving the distributive property, groupings, and exponents.
3) Solve equations with variables on both sides.
4) Find the perimeter & area of parallelograms, triangles, & trapezoids. Find the area & circumference of a circle.
5) Graph the line of an equation using slope-intercept form.
