Per the Board of Education: There will be at least 4 Major Grades (Tests) which are at least 75 points and at least 5 minor grades which are less than 75 points.
Tests will usually be 100 points and everything else will usually be 50 points.
Everything else includes:
BW - Boardwork, sometimes called bell ringers. They are written on the board every day for students to do as soon as they come into class.
CW - Classwork.
IP - Independent Practice. Assigned near the end of class. To be finished for HW if not completed in class.
HW - Homework. IP that is not finished in class. Also, studying for tests will be assigned as HW.
GS - Grade Sheets. Students are to keep a running average of all grades returned to them.
NB - Notebook.
QZ - Quizzes.
In iNow, there will sometimes be points for effort given. This is the number of points for that assignment that is given simply for the effort of doing it (and showing their work). It is very important for students to show their work on BW/CW/IP/HW in order to get credit.
Students are required to keep a running record and average of their grades and should be able to supply it to their parent or guardian at any time. I also encourage you to check your student's grades on iNow. (See tab on: How to use iNow)
