10th-12th Grades

Questions We Want Our Students to Be Asking

At this point, our students should approach every information search and every assignment with this set of questions in mind. Not only are we asking our students to think this way, but we're insisting that ask them of themselves and of others!

What do you notice?

How do you know?

What does this remind you of?

Do you agree or disagree? Why?

How did you come up with that?

What in the text makes you say that?

Where is the evidence for that?

Who might have another idea?

Where is that evidence for that idea?

How could you explain difference interpretations?

What is the author trying to prove?

What kind of proof does the author use?

Does the author adequately defend the argument?

How might you persuade someone to change his or her mind?

What evidence would you use?

Textbooks

Some parents want to purchase a second set of textbooks to keep at home so that students don't have to carry their books back and forth from school. This is OPTIONAL, and many other parents find this is unecessary (particularly in these grades!).  However, if you are interested in purchasing such a set, here are the lists for 3rd and 4th. Please note the correct editions.
