Keeping track of medications, medical appointments, important documents, or just knowing what to consider in certain eldercare situations can be challenging. The National Institute on Aging website offers free, downloadable worksheets to help you manage your loved one’s care. Additionally, Suzanne Blakenship of The Eldercare Navigator has created downloadable, fillable PDFs for various caregiving needs. Each form costs $5 and includes a sample to guide you.

Aging and Disability Resources for Colorado (ADRC) - A service of the Colorado Department of Human Services, where you can connect with your local Area Agency on Aging.

Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) - A comprehensive directory of resources across the Denver Metro area for elderly adults and those with disabilities.

Aging at 5280 - An agency that can help you find options for independent living, assisted living, and memory care.  They are compensated by the facility you contract with.

Aging Services Consultants, Answers for Senior Care, Care Coordinators of Colorado are private-pay Eldercare Consultants in the Denver Metro area.

Home safety assessments help identify necessary modifications in your loved one’s home to prevent falls and other safety issues. Common areas checked include bathrooms, stairs, floors, and lighting. Below are resources to assist with these evaluations.

Hospice provides comfort-focused, end-of-life support. Hospice organizations provide medical care, medical equipment, respite care, and emotional support to families. Some providers in the Denver metro area are listed below.

Housing needs for an elderly loved one can vary greatly. Many Eldercare Consultants can help you find suitable housing options. Additionally, your Regional Agencies on Aging, Colorado Association of Area Agencies on Aging, and other agencies listed under the Multi-Service Organizations category below can also assist in locating housing resources. Below are some additional agencies that you may find helpful.

•  Senior Housing Options - A non-profit that helps seniors find both assisted living and independent living options.

•  Sunshine Home Share Colorado - A home-sharing program in Colorado designed for seniors that helps older adults lower their housing expenses by pairing them with roommates.

You might need help with setting up a Power of Attorney or making decisions about guardianship or other legal matters. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through Mines and Associates offers legal assistance. Additionally, Colorado Legal Services provides free legal help for seniors. You can also contact your Regional Agencies on Aging or the Colorado Association of Area Agencies on Aging for help finding additional resources.

These organizations help with sorting, cleaning out, and downsizing. Some can assist in coordinating a move to a new location and organizing estate sales.

Seniors Resource Center - A Colorado resource for finding in-home and out-of-home support for senior adults. The site also provides resources for caregivers.

The AgeWise Colorado website houses articles on eldercare and caregiving.

AGS offers educational materials for older adults and caregivers covering various topics in wellness, preventative care, self-responsibility, independence, and connecting with family and community. The information is professionally reviewed by members of the American Gerontological Society.

Arapahoe Libraries offer resources for older adults and care partners.

The Caregiver Action Network provides various tools, resources, and reading on various caregiving topics.
