Take Care of Technology Equipment
Technology Equipment is furnished by the school district to provide each teacher and student with digital resources that will enhance the learning experience - particularly Chromebooks. Students should take care of school technology equipment, which can be viewed as a privilege.
The district's responsible use policy, which is included in the student handbook, states the purpose of school use of technology and includes details about handling school-owned equipment. Be sure you are familiar with the district policy. (link below) Pay attention to the following sections:
Respecting Resources Limits (page 72) - taking care of equipment
"Students will not mishandle the equipment of the network and will take reasonable precautions to safeguard it from abuse and misuse."
System Security (page 71) - malicious threats and network security
All the points in this section apply to responsible use of school Chromebooks because they deal with what you are doing on the Chromebook through the school network.

Responsible Use Policy
Grade Level Activities:
Grades K-2
Discussion: What 7 tips are in this video? Can you think of other tips to help make learning with Chromebooks and other technology fun in your classroom?
Activity: Make a poster showing one of these Chromebook rules.
Grades 3-5
Discussion: How can you take care of your Chromebook? What should you NOT do?
Activity: Make your own video or slide which demonstrates how you care for your Chromebook. Present to the class or share in Google Classroom, Schoology, or other LMS.
Grades 6-8
Discussion: Define responsible use of school technology equipment. What would be considered abuse or irresponsibility?
Activity: Develop class rules and consequences for abuse and irresponsibility. Create a Google slides or Canva presentation with a minimum of three rules and consequences. Present to the class or share in Google Classroom, Schoology, or other LMS.
Grades 9-12
Discussion: Define responsible use of school technology equipment. What would be considered abuse or irresponsibility? (refer to the responsible use policy)
Create your own version of rules for responsible care of school technology equipment using Google slides, Canva, or another tech tool. Present to the class or share in Google Classroom, Schoology, or other LMS.
