Italian Food, Film, Music and Travel

Through visiting Lygon Street, Carlton, il Mercato Centrale, Melbourne, Market Europa supermarket and the Palace Cinemas Italian Film Festival, the Year 9 Italian Elective builds Italian fluency by living the Italian language through real world experiences and a variety of media. Students will immerse themselves in the Italian language and culture.

Taking inspiration from the international stage of Eurovision and the San Remo Music Festivals, students create their own ‘Cheltvision Music Festival’ by choosing their favourite Italian songs and judging the winner.

Students will study food through the Italian regions, create their favourite regional dishes and celebrate the unit of food with a class food festival.

Before heading out to the Italian Film Festival, students will watch classic and popular culture Italian films and through inquiry driven learning will select their focus of themes and characters to explore and publish their film review.

Focusing on their dream destinations in Italy, students will research online travel resources to develop an ideal itinerary of their bucket list holiday to Italy.
