Dear Bearcat Students:
This is an exciting time for W. F. West High School students. Our Chehalis School District Student Achievement Initiative is aimed at making every student career and college ready. The majority of jobs in Washington State’s workforce require college degrees. Teachers in the district from grades K-12 are working with students to help them prepare for these opportunities. Each year we have increasing numbers of our students entering two and four year programs, and going on to earn college degrees. Last year, graduating seniors received nearly 2 million dollars in college scholarships, thanks in large part to a generous community. The school district and community support for W. F. West high school students is exceptional.
The high school staff is excited about the academic program offerings that are in place and continually evolving to support students as you prepare for the future. You are in the “driver's seat” on this journey of learning and preparing for your future. We hope that you will use this curriculum guide to develop the critical thinking, communication, creativity and innovative skills that will support your future. Our career and college planning program and Naviance will support your high school process of awareness, eligibility and preparedness for career and college.
Our counselors and teachers serve as academic advisors, and are ready to offer the support that you need to plan your pathway to post-high school career and college opportunities. We also have a College Prep Advisor, ready to support your career and college planning. Education is the key to your future in Washington state and the nation’s workplace. I urge you to take full advantage of the classes offered as you work toward your future goals.
The Chehalis School District is dedicated to providing the education you need to be prepared for career, college and life. We are fortunate to have a dedicated staff, and an exceptional level of community support available for our academic programs and scholarship opportunities. Please use this curriculum guide to plan for the best future possible. Let us know how we can support and encourage you in this process during your high school years.
Sincerely,
Bob Walters
