Welcome to the Changemakers Project Hub! This is your family’s one-stop shop for everything related to each service project.
Here you’ll find project details and instructions, registration links with shift sign-ups, and helpful tips to prepare your scholar. After each project, you can also upload photos and memories and complete a short reflection activity.
We encourage all Changemaker families to use this hub as your go-to resource. It’s designed to make participating simple, fun, and meaningful—so your scholar can focus on serving, learning, and leading with kindness.
PARK & COMMUNITY CLEANUP
PARK & COMMUNITY CLEANUP
Date: Saturday, September 26, 2026; Time: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Join the Changemakers for our first service project of the year—Park & Community Cleanups! Working alongside their families, our scholars will help care for local parks and shared spaces while learning how small acts of service can make a meaningful difference in their community.
THE WHY. Before the event, please watch the video below with your Changemaker to help them understand the “why” behind this service project. Although the video was created for a previous event, its message is still relevant. Please disregard the dates and event details mentioned and focus on the importance and community impact of caring for our shared spaces.
RELECTION ACTIVITY. Afterward, please have your Changemaker take just a few minutes to complete the Service Project Reflection. Reflecting helps scholars connect their experience to what they learned, recognize the impact of their service, and think about how they can continue making a difference in their community.
We’ll host three staggered cleanup shifts, each earning 1 service hour:
8:00–8:45 AM: Longhorn Park: Park Captains: TBD - Need 1-2
9–9:45 AM: Calf Pasture Park. Park Captains: TBD - Need 2
10:00–10:45 AM: Collegiate Prep Elementary. Park Captains: TBD - Need 2
Important Details
Registration opens Fri, 9/18 at 12pm through next Wed, 9/23 (or until all spots are filled)
We are looking for 2 Park Captains per location to help check in participants and hand out supplies.
Registration is required for all participants.
All scholars must be accompanied by a VOLY-approved parent or guardian.
Please register for one shift only (1 service hour).
Please eat breakfast, bring a water bottle, and wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and shoes suitable for walking on grass and pavement.
Trash grabbers, garbage bags, and hand sanitizer will be provided.
To ensure proper coverage, each site is limited to 15-20 spots. If one fills up, we may close registration to balance participation across all locations.

Community Connections: Building Safer Communities Through Service

Community Connections Night will bring our Collegiate community together for an evening of learning, service, family fun, and connection. This collaborative event will include activities hosted by the Collegiate Prep PTA, the Academy & High School PTSA, and the Collegiate Prep Changemakers.
Collegiate Prep PTA will host family games and fun activities, and the Academy & High School PTSA will contribute an additional experience for families. As part of the larger evening, Changemakers will help lead the Community Safety Experience, featuring safety education from the Cedar Hill Police and Fire Departments along with student service projects honoring our local first responders.

Grade-Level Service Projects
Grade-Level Service Projects
Pre-K and Kindergarten: Create community-helper artwork. (1 hour)
First Grade: Make thank-you cards for local police officers and firefighters. (1 hour)
Second Grade: Design community-safety posters to educate and encourage others. (2 hours)
Third Grade: Help create First Responder Appreciation Bags. (2 hours)
Fourth and Fifth Grade: Serve as members of the Community Connections Crew, with a limited number of opportunities to assist during the event. (2 hours)
Project instructions, required supplies, completion deadlines, and information about any take-home materials will be shared for each grade-level activity.
Community Safety Experience
Community Safety Experience
During Community Connections Night, families will have the opportunity to explore interactive educational stations presented by the Cedar Hill Police and Fire Departments. Potential topics and activities include bicycle safety, anti-bullying, stranger awareness, fire prevention, CPR, community outreach resources, and other age-appropriate safety lessons.
Families will be able to explore the safety stations at their own pace, visit the Changemakers Safety and Appreciation Gallery, and enjoy the other games, activities, and experiences offered throughout the larger event.
Parent Volunteers Needed
Parent Volunteers Needed
Parent volunteers will be essential to helping each grade-level project run smoothly. We anticipate identifying one or two Parent Project Leads for each grade level to help coordinate activities, prepare or distribute materials, answer basic questions, and help ensure completed projects are ready for display or delivery.
Additional volunteer opportunities may include:
Preparing and assembling take-home project kits
Organizing supplies
Collecting completed projects
Setting up the Safety and Appreciation Gallery
Assisting with event-night activities
Helping deliver appreciation items to community partners

Through this experience, Changemakers will learn that building a safer, stronger community involves more than knowing safety rules. It also means showing appreciation, sharing helpful information, serving others, and working together.
