Fourth-and Fifth-Grade Community Connections Crew Co-Coordinators

Number Needed: Two co-coordinators, with additional event-night adult volunteers as needed
Estimated Commitment: Approximately 5–7 hours, including Community Connections Night

Role Summary

The Community Connections Crew Co-Coordinators will help prepare and supervise a limited number of fourth- and fifth-grade Changemakers serving in structured volunteer roles during Community Connections Night.

The Changemakers Chair will determine the available student positions, participation limits, assignments, expectations, and family communications.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Participate in the coordinator kickoff.

• Review the student roles, expectations, and event layout.

• Assist with organizing student registrations and shift preferences.

• Help place students into approved assignments.

• Ensure students understand their assigned responsibilities and boundaries.

• Check student volunteers in at the event.

• Direct students to their assigned areas.

• Supervise students serving as Gallery Hosts, Appreciation Ambassadors, Greeters, Guides, or Gallery Support Crew.

• Help students use their prepared welcome statements or directions.

• Monitor shift changes and provide breaks when needed.

• Redirect students if an assignment becomes too busy or does not have enough work.

• Ensure students do not supervise other children, handle safety equipment, direct vehicle traffic, or answer technical safety questions.

• Confirm that each student is released to the appropriate parent or guardian at the end of the shift.

• Report participation information to the Changemakers Chair.

Proposed Timeline

• Sept. 23–30: Coordinator registration

• Oct. 1-2: Virtual coordinator kickoff (30 min)

Exact meeting time will be coordinated based on selected coordinators’ availability. Individual kickoff sessions may be scheduled if needed. 

• Oct. 5-8: Finalize student assignments/shifts; send info and expectations end to families. 

• Oct. 9–16: Fall Break

• Oct. 19: Send reminders to families + check in information to families 

• Oct. 21: Check in, place, supervise, and release student volunteers
