About Cherry Hill East Speech and Debate:

The East Speech Team first competed online in December 2021, when all competitions were virtual.  Two students (Captains/Co-founders, Ananya Balasubramanya and Grace Yoon) competed in the Princeton Classic, and by spring of 2022, the East Speech Team had seven active competitors.

In SY 2022-2023, East competed in SIX in-person competitions, and there were 25 active competitors.  Students performed in a pre-season showcase in the fall, and hosted a speech and debate banquet in the spring.  

In September 2023, the East Debate Team left the South Jersey Speech and Debate League to joined forces with Speech Team.  Students are members of NSDA and will earn points and degrees through competition. As of September 2025, there over 60 active students on the East and NSDA roster and most are preparing to compete this fall and winter.
