Do not go swimming in the ocean. Our beach is Salinas River State Beach. You should wear a life jacket when playing water sports such as kayaking. Link to tide chart. High tide is not very pleasant to be on the beach, it's great every other time. It's safe to be in the water as long as you can easily stand.
Monterey State Beach, Del Monte Beach, and Sand City Beach are all nice beaches 15 mins away with great sand to go play in.
Fishing is legal on the beach, you'll probably see some fisherman. Horseback riding is also legal, you may see people riding horses.
There are beach chairs on the upper patio deck you can bring to the beach. I have another beach chair and umbrella that I keep on the deck, and there are swinging chairs I keep in the garage.
Beach towels are in the dining room near the patio door. There are more clean ones in the supply closet in the downstairs MBR. Please rinse any sand on your feet/legs/body at the downstairs patio before coming back into the house.
The pool is open from April 1 to Oct 31. The hot tub is open year round. You can find both of these at the community center as you go further down Monterey Dunes Way into the rest of the neighborhood. There are also tennis courts, pickleball courts, basketball courts, and bocce ball. If there are no bocce balls out, we have a bunch of bocce balls in the garage.
There are binoculars in the bottom cabinets in the dining room as whales will sometimes breach and can be seen, along with dolphins. Sometimes the binoculars are out by the fireplace because that's where we usually watch from - the living room windows.
There's a game closet with puzzles and other miscellaneous things next to the upstairs bathroom. Feel free to bust out any of the games or puzzles, including the unopened ones.
We have pickleball paddles and balls in the closet under the stairs.
