Students will be seated six feet apart whenever possible and as far apart as feasible, if this is not attainable in a particular classroom.
Face coverings are required because it is impossible to guarantee that students will remain six feet apart in a school setting. There are moments in a class or school when students will be in proximity to one another and their teacher.
Rearranged seating has been implemented along with face and/or desk shields to further mitigate risk where six feet of space is not attainable.
Most, but not all, classes will be scheduled in rooms with windows. MERV-13 air filters will be placed in rooms without windows.
The air conditioning units will run to bring in fresh air, but we will also open all classroom windows and doors to improve air flow and exchange during the school day. Students should dress comfortably.
Teachers will be encouraged to use outdoor classroom spaces. All outside instruction will be be delivered on school property and will follow distancing guidelines.
The number of students in the hallways will be limited and controlled by releasing students by location and grade level. Face coverings will be required in hallways.
Schools are developing procedures for arrival and dismissal to disperse the student population at each school.
Additional equipment and supplies have been secured to thoroughly and efficiently disinfect classrooms, bathrooms, and other areas.
All classrooms will be sanitized on a daily basis. Additional time has been dedicated to cleaning and disinfecting school facilities.
Classrooms will be sanitized between half-day kindergarten and pre-K sessions.
It is impossible to disinfect surfaces after every use.
Students are permitted to bring sanitizing wipes to school and disinfect surfaces before and after their use.

Community based needs, such as after care in partnership with the Work Family Connection or other requests deemed essential will be considered in accordance with regulations in place at the time of the request, together with a thorough evaluation of the available space and the additional cleaning necessary to maintain building environments that are safe, clean and conducive to the operation of our facilities during the school day.
As we monitor the pandemic and receive additional information and guidance from the CDC and New Jersey State and local officials we will continue to revisit our use of facilities plan and adjust accordingly.
