Looking Back

Peer-2-Peer Mental Health Presentation

This March, the senior class attended a presentation that was brought to us by the Chris Collins Foundation and our Peer2Peer Program, which is a student-led program that promotes mental health awareness.   Student athletes from the University of Rhode Island spoke to our seniors.  They discussed their mental health experiences along with other mental health issues that have surrounded their journey including the stigma, seeking help, peer support, coping skills and the importance of mental health education and advocacy.   We are grateful to have been able to provide this valuable presentation to our senior class.

Excuse Yourself Presentation

We will be hosting an Excuse Yourself Assembly for 11th and 10th graders in late March.  Excuse Yourself is an educational training for middle and high school students on how to safely avoid getting into a car with an impaired driver.  The presenters shared potential real-life scenarios with students.  We are grateful to provide this training to our 11th and 10th graders and to equip them with skills on how to avoid getting into a car with someone who may be impaired.

Faculty/Student Game

Our students and staff enjoyed some competitive fun earlier this month as they played in our annual Faculty/Student basketball game.  Entry to the event was a canned food item and our Student Advisory Board donated all collected items to RICAN as a way to give back to our community.  Congrats to the Senior Class who advanced to play the faculty.  Congrats to the faculty for taking home the win!

Our Lacrosse Team participated in High-5 Friday at RES where they greeted our elementary students for the start of their school day!  The CHS and RES mascots had some fun too!
