We are a group of IB students and educators at Chadwick International in Songdo, South Korea. Our mission is to raise awareness about the plight and hardships that are faced by many school communities in the Philippines. Our continued goal is to support the educational and basic needs of school communities in Labo, Camarines Norte. Annually, we visit and spend time in Labo and make joint decisions with the school communities as to how best to support their needs. We collaborate with other service learning groups to achieve greater awareness of our mission and we work towards providing solutions that help improve the lives of other students.
We are a dynamic and dedicated club committed to supporting the fundamental needs of students in Camarines Norte, Philippines. Through partnerships with Aniceta De Lara Pi Mentel High School, Labo Science and Technology High School, and Moreno Integrated School, PSL focuses on initiatives that align with five United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs): No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-Being, Quality Education, and Partnerships for the Goals. By addressing critical issues such as nutrition, education, and health, PSL strives to make a significant and lasting impact on the lives of these students and their communities.
Philippines Service Learning (PSL) has several future plans aimed at expanding our impact and ensuring the sustainability of our programs. Key future plans include:
Raising Awareness: PSL aims to increase awareness about zero hunger and other related issues by participating in and organizing various conferences. These events will provide a platform to share their stories and amplify their voices within a broader community.
Annual Visits: Post-COVID-19, PSL plans to resume annual trips to the Labo community. These visits will help club members understand the severity of hunger and the importance of their programs, fostering stronger connections and motivation among members.
Sustainable Fundraising: To ensure the longevity of their initiatives, PSL will continue to seek sustainable fundraising methods. This includes reaching out to potential sponsors, selling self-created goods, and organizing fundraising events. Their goal is to maintain and expand their programs despite economic challenges.
Partnership Development: PSL intends to strengthen existing partnerships and forge new ones with organizations that align with their goals. These collaborations will provide additional resources and support to enhance their programs.
By focusing on these plans, PSL aims to create lasting change and continue our mission of supporting the basic needs and educational goals of students in the Philippines.
