The CGJSHS choir students put on their fall choir concert. The high school choir sang songs from the musicals Dear Evan Hansen and Wicked as well as a song from the movie Pitch Perfect 2. Several students gave solo performances throughout the concert: Grace Bolieu, Ruby McKnight, Samuel Parker, Jadon Carlson, Tristan Teaney, and Nex Priest. Something new this year is Percussive Arts. Ayla Schweger and Harlie Falder along with Mr. Meals performed St. Thomas by Sonny Rollins.
The CGJSHS music department had the honor of hosting Amado Espinoza, a renowned Native American musician from Bolivia. Known by some as El hombre de los cien instrumentos (The man of one hundred instruments), Amado spent the day giving dynamic presentations on the indigenous instruments of his home region. Beyond performing, Amado is also a talented composer, instrument builder, and inventor. It was a truly special day, giving our music students a unique and unforgettable look into world music, craftmanship, and culture. We were incredibly lucky to have him share his talents and knowledge with our music students.
