- Students are not internalizing inverse operations, 2-6th grade, so the state recommends that the students start recording all of the different related facts. Efficiency matters, but they need to be able to write all the ways so they can see what is most efficient for them.
4/2 is the same as 4 x .5
Students need the manipulatives to help them understand the inverse operations. The state is acknowledging that tricks are not helping students.

-The model is used to generate the sum and equivalent fractions.
-EX: half of an hour is spun and recorded as the first addend
-Students should make the connection between the time and label everything.
