Please note that since Algebra 1 is a high school course, there will be a semester exam at the end of each semester that is worth 1/7 of the semester grade. You will get a letter with more details in the first few weeks of school.
- Unit 0: Intro to Algebra: includes procedures, setting up Math Notebook and how to use the graphing calculator.
- Unit 1: Intro to Linear Functions: Includes review of solving equations, literal equations, functions, data types, domain and range, slope, different forms of linear equations, direct variation, transformations, scatterplots, arithmetic sequences, linear inequalities.
- Unit 2: Systems of Equations and Inequalities: Systems of inequalities by graphing, systems of equations by graphing
- Unit 2: Systems of Equations and Inequalities (continued): Systems of equations by substitution, setting equal and linear combination/elimination.
- Unit 3: Quadratic Functions: properties and attributes of quadratic functions, transformations, forms of quadratic functions and quadratic scatterplots.
- Unit 4: Polynomial Operations: Classifying, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing polynomials, factoring with tiles and the box, special factoring.
- Unit 5: Quadratic Equations: Finding solutions to quadratic equation using graphs/tables, factoring, square root method, completing the square, and the quadratic formula.
- Unit 6: Exponential Functions: Laws of exponents and radicals, exponential functions, exponential scatterplots
- Unit 7: Algebra I STAAR (EOC) Review: Algebra I STAAR is on Tuesday, May 8, 2018
- Unit 8: Transition to Geometry: Triangle angle relationships, parallel lines cut by a transversal, perimeter, area, surface area and Pythagorean Theorem using expressions.
