Each shift they exhibit our values of Love Serving Others | Positive & Encouraging | Always Grow & Win | Core 4.
They understand that their attitude sets the standard for the team.
Bring Solutions, Not Problems
Things will not always be smooth sailing. Our Training Leads will be those who fix problems before they become big issues.
Eager & Humble Learners
An Training Leads is someone who is always looking for opportunities to learn and grow. Continuous improvement of themselves not just of the process and systems of operations.
Know When To Lead & When To Follow
Our Training Leads are those who use initiative and make things happen – who step up and lead without asking for permission. They are also the Team Members who get behind a decision or idea and make it a reality, who can follow and implement the decisions or plans.
Share Their Learning
Our Training Leads don’t just keep their learning to themselves. They also look to build the capabilities of the team by sharing their observations and insights.
Attendance & DPS Reflect The Always Grow & Win Value
Our Training Leads show up on time for their shifts and arrange for coverage if they are unable to work a scheduled shift. Points are below 2 points and their record shows that they are not exploiting the system.
Share Their Learning
Our Training Leads don’t just keep their learning to themselves. They also look to build the capabilities of the team by sharing their observations and insights. They'll make recommendations for learning resources, books, videos, workshops etc. that may benefit the team. They are proactive in providing peer coaching and feedback. Their drive is to help the team learn and grow together.
Anticipate The Needs Of Others
Our Training Leads are looking ahead and anticipating the needs of the team, their colleagues and of their Directors. They are the ones who are taking action, before it's needed, rather than reacting after the situation. A Team Lead/Shift Lead always seems to be planning two or three steps ahead, anticipating the needs of the team and our guests, which means we are on top of our game, always.
A Pressure Valve, Not A Pressure Cooker
Our Training Leads aren't just smart, they don't just have functional expertise, they also have people expertise. They are tuned into the moods of others on the team and can sense when things are tense. They are able to lighten the atmosphere with [appropriate] humor, or provide the perfect piece of advice just at the right time to ensure that any stress is released appropriately. They understand that their attitude sets the standard for the team.
Disagree When Needed
Our Training Leads are not simply seen and not heard. They also speak up and challenge the status quo (and Directors) when needed. Whether it’s asking “why,” “what if” or “how,” they are not afraid to ask the tough questions or to say "that sounds problematic" in a way that encourages debate not defensiveness, an approach that increases learning and understanding and ultimately results in better quality decisions, and implementation of those decisions.
Create A Fun Atmosphere
We celebrate our successes personal and professional. We also look to have fun with our guests, to make coming to CFA easy, enjoyable and fun. We intentionally plan activities outside of work to know one another and play. Life is too short to take it seriously all the time.
How to Become a Training Leader:
Talk to upper-level leaders about your interest in Training Leader and ask for feedback. Keep in mind that there may be things that you need to work on before you're ready for Training Leader.
When you feel like you are ready, complete an expression of interest form. You will need to put at least one name of a leader who is recommending you for Training Leader.
The Director team will review your expression of interest and reach out to schedule a performance evaluation/interview.
Training Leader Training:
If selected to become a Training Leader, you will receive a training packet. This will include study materials, training checklist, and a leadership book. You will need to bring your training packet with you to work each day.
Throughout the training packet you will be working with your Director or Leadership to complete various sections. This is about learning the material not simply completing the packet quickly.
When the training packet is completed, you will need to complete a knowledge quiz.
When the training packet and knowledge quiz have all been completed, you will have a follow-up discussion with a Kyle Zimmerman, Owner/Operator to finalize your promotion.
