The Central High School Jazz Band is an auditioned class that meets daily during the spring semester of the school year. Students perform music from various genres of jazz, learn the basics of improvisation and the history of jazz music in America.

The band performs at school concerts, local festivals and other community venues. They have also traveled to perform in New York City (Wall Street, Lincoln Center) and Orlando (Downtown Disney, Universal Studios).

Central Valley Jazz Band Members To Participate in Jazz Festival
Three members of the Central Valley Jazz Band auditioned on Tuesday, January 8 at Slippery Rock University and placed high enough to participate in the PMEA District 5 Jazz Band Festival. The festival was held on February 1 and 2 at SRU. To be selected, students competed with other jazz band instrumentalists from Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer Counties.
