Cassidy Smith "Hippie" (In Progress)

12',8', Clay, 2019

The style of my sculpture is realism because it is portraying a women. The sculpture went exactly as I planned it too. It is a real life presentation of the idea I started with and I am so proud of how great it turned out. I did want to add some details to the shoulders and neck but this already took a lot of my time so I couldn't get to it sadly. If I started over I would definitely watch the head closer and made sure it didn't sink in or anything around the chin area because I had a lot of problems with that. I love the flowers in her hair and how free and wild she looks because it was exactly the look I was trying to get.

THE BIRTH OF MUSIC.mp4

Cassidy Smith “The Birth of Music”

Video, 2019

The idea I started out with was pretty much what the video ended up to be, except I did not have the idea of the music notes until I finished the guitar. I thought it was a really great add in and it definitely topped off the whole video. If I started over I would probably take more pictures of the guitar being formed and make it look smoother than it did because the positioning was off at some points. What I love about this piece is the music the guitar plays at the end and watching the notes fly out of it. I also enjoyed when the strings slithered onto the guitar. I thought it was very cool and enjoyable to watch and I am proud of every part of it!
