Cassidy Smith “Penguin Teapot”
5½',7', Clay and Glass, 2018
The style of my sculpture is realism, because it is made to be a penguin, but I made it into a teapot as well. I got inspired by a penguin teapot online that I found and I really liked how it looked especially because it was a penguin and I love penguins, I think they are adorable. My sculptures development was all how I was expecting it to turn out. It went as planned and I added all the details I wanted and needed.
The final work of art I was really proud of because it was exactly how I wanted it to look and the glaze turned out pretty well along with the details all together. If I started over I would probably have changed the feet. I feel like I could have done them better and made them not look as flat but I’m glad they at least got added because I almost forgot to even add them to my piece! What I love about my piece of work is just the overall teapot. I think it looks super cute and you can 100% tell it is a penguin which is exactly what I was going for! I also love the little bow I put on it because I think it was a super cute addition!
Cassidy Smith "Elephant"
7',3', Clay and Glass, 2018
The style of my decorative piece is realism because it captures the image and shape of an elephant. I got inspired to make this because my mother loves elephants and I think they are fascinating, and beautiful animals. I really liked how it turned out because I think the shape and structure of it was very well done and the ear makes it look more 3D, as it pops out. My elephants development was very easy for me, actually. It went very smoothly and I didn't run into any problems. The outcome I was really happy with, but if I started over I would have probably done a different, less green looking color, because I think it would have looked better. Overall I love it, I think it was a fun little piece to make and I really love that I made its body look a more 3D than just flat.
