Fall 2017
“Serene Candle”
12x18, Acrylic on paper, 2017
The style of my painting is realism. I painted a candle that has just been blown out. I was originally going to make a flame on the candle, but decided I liked the way the smoke looked better. I got my idea from a sketch I had previously made. If I started over I would change the colors I used and make them brighter and add more detail to enhance the realism. I love the way the wax dripping down the candle and smoke turned out.
“Sunset View”
18x24, Acrylic on paper, 2017
The style of my painting is realism. My painting is of a picture I took of my backyard when the sun was starting to set. I got my idea when I was looking through pictures I had taken and thought it would make a good painting. If I started over I would add more details like trees and blend the clouds better. My favorite part of my painting is the bright colors of the sky and the illusion of light and shadow.
