Meet the Team
Hello! I am Jerald Ferguson, and have the distinct honor and privilege of being the principal at Center High School. I was formerly a math teacher in the North Sacramento Area in Twin Rivers, which was formerly the Grant District. I was a member of the AVID site team for 6 years at Rio Tierra Junior High and have attended training and workshops on AVID strategies. For the last four years I was working in Woodland as a high school vice principal continuing to work with AVID site teams as the administrator overseeing the AVID program.
I was born in Denver, Colorado where my family lived until I was 5 when we moved to Florida. We lived in Florida for about 6 years when we moved to Oakland, California. I graduated from Skyline High School in 1997 and then attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I graduated from Sac State in 2002 with a bachelors degree in philosophy and then entered the teacher credentialing program.
I am very excited about coming to Center High School where my wife graduated in 1993. When I am not at work I love to spend time with my wife and our son, usually pretending we are whales, playing with trains and cars, going to the playground near our house, or watching movies. I also enjoy playing indoor soccer or going for a jog with my son in his stroller through the open space near our house.
The best way to contact me is by email or through the front office.
Danielle Stout
Hello! I'm Danielle Stout, the current AVID Coordinator. I currently teach the AVID 9 and 11 electives. I grew up in many places (my father was an Intelligence Officer in the US Army) like Hawaii, Arizona, Texas, and Germany.
I graduated from California State University, Fresno (Go Dogs!) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. I became an AVID tutor through Americorps, placed in the Center Unified School District. I went on to get my teaching credential and have taught AVID and History at both CHS and WC Riles Middle School for 20 years.
In addition to AVID I teach Modern World History 10, and Honors World History 10. I am on the school Site Council, and one of two technology mentors on campus.
When not at work I spend the rest of my time as my daughter's personal driver, going to the gym, watching way too many movies ( Netflix!) and reading. The best way to contact me is via email.
