Four year college info
Nearly all colleges and universities prefer that students apply online. Check to see if you need to submit any letters of recommendation. Not all colleges require them, but don't exceed the number suggested.
First Step: FILL OUT THE APPLICATION
Second Step: REQUEST LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
- Complete a Request for Recommendation Form to give to your teacher/coach/etc. A link to AVID's form can be found here.
- Give your teacher a stamped envelope addressed to the college. Some recommendations can be submitted electronically and do not require an envelope (for example - The Common Application).
- Let your teacher know when you need the letter sent. Teachers and counselors require at least two weeks notice.
Third Step: TRANSCRIPTS AND TEST SCORES
1. Fill out the Transcripts request form from the student center.
2. Your transcript does NOT include testing scores. If you didn't have them sent when you took the test , contact http://www.actstudent.org/ orhttp://www.collegeboard.com/ directly to have your ACT or SAT scores sent to the school of your choice.
