“Be Thankful.” By Morgan Leese (November Contest Winner)
Woke up in the morning, breathing in the fresh air. Her life is amazing, no one else’s can compare. A vision of 20/20, Her hearing remains an entity. No sound of a stomach growl,No appearance of a scowl. Woke up in the afternoon,Not wanting to get up,She’s scared to lose. “Be thankful, be thankful, life is a gift.I should do something about this,But ignorance is bliss.” She tried to wake up at night, But refused to sit up. Her body caked in soars, Her life flashed before her eyes. Memory tainted, Decisions manipulated. Thoughts can be affiliated, with the events that remain complicated. Woke up in the morning, breathing in the fresh air. Her life is far from amazing, no one else’s can compare. Be thankful, be thankful, life is a gift. She could’ve done something about this,But as they say, ignorance is bliss.
"Thankful." by JR
I am thankful for breakfast. Nothing makes me happier than when I have the motivation to get up and make breakfast. As a wise man once said, “breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” so when I get the chance to make pancakes or even just a simple bagel, my day is off to a great start. I am a firm believer in the notion: if you eat breakfast, your day has to be good by default. So sometimes, I don’t eat breakfast because you have to keep the balance of good days and bad days. No rain, no flowers, am I right? I am thankful for lunch. Halfway through a chaotic day, nothing makes me happier than getting to sit down and eat something different everyday. Whether it’s the Tennent cafeteria or Chick-fil-a ™, lunch, as a wise man once said, is the most important meal of the day. Personally, and this might be a bit controversial, I love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The balance of peanut butter and jelly is a balance that is unmatched, it is simply perfection. I am thankful for dinner. Nothing makes me happier than getting to sit down at the end of a long day with my family and eat a home cooked meal (except the days where both my parents are working so I get take-out for me and my brothers). As a wise man once said, “dinner is the most important meal of the day,” because it’s an opportunity to reflect on your day while eating something amazing, like quesadillas. I am not thankful for midnight snacks, however. Nothing makes me angrier than when I wake up at 2am craving spaghettios. This leads to me not being hungry for breakfast, and then eating lunch too early, and then eating dinner too early, which leads to another midnight snack. I am an insomniac, or an insomniSNACK as some might say. I slept for 2 hours last night.

Thankful Writing by Anonymous Being thankful means a lot to me. I love Thanksgiving because I am around my family and friends. I also really love the food on Thanksgiving. I am thankful for my family being there for me at all times. No matter what they always take my side and when I’m wrong they correct me. I am also thankful for basketball coming into my life. When I was eight, I picked up my first basketball and have loved and dedicated my life to basketball. There are many things I am thankful for but these things are what I am most thankful for.
Thankful Essay by Anonymous It's hard for us to get up early in the morning whether it’s for work, school or anything else. And we struggle really bad to get out of bed, but we do it because we have no other choice. It's the start of our day and being able to hear your alarm clock go off in the morning is one thing to be thankful for. What does being thankful mean to you? Many people would say that they’re thankful with what pleases them. You constantly hear the very big, broad things people are thankful for such as their family, car or even house. You don't really hear anyone say they are thankful for the little things as a simple kiss from their spouse. As a married couple, I know a woman would rather hear an “I love you” from her other half than anything else in the world! I'm not married yet but when my fiance says “I love you” to me it's something I really cherish and am very thankful for. I want to tell you the simple little things I am thankful for. Waking up in the morning and being able to take another breath and simply seeing God's creation another day is one thing I’m always thankful for. You may think I’m crazy but I’m very thankful for the battles and trials I go through because they make me a stronger woman. They teach me how to overcome battles and tough times through life. They help me learn from my mistakes and take control of what I can and work on to become a better person. Going through fights and battles helps you overcome and win the next ones. As much as I don't like going to school, it's the only thing I battle with and it's one thing I’m thankful for because it'll help me support a family in the future. The biggest thing I’m thankful for is my family! I come from a big family with lots of siblings and cousins. My siblings have taught me so much in life and help prepare me for the future. My parents gave me the opportunity to go to school and pursue my dream in a career I'll love, even though they didn't have that. They provide me with so much and I’m so thankful that they pushed and never gave up. I look at them as my biggest example in life. They came to America with just one suitcase for their whole family of eight kids or more. They started somewhere and pushed for their children to be happy and have the best! My parents are the biggest thing I'm thankful for because they didn't give up even when they had nothing. There's only one way they survived all this and got to where they are now and that's because of God! He gave them the strength to push through and give their children a happy and successful life. Without God my family and I probably wouldn't be in a house with food, water, clothes, bed, etc. Don't only look at the big things in life but look at the little simple things. When you get home from a busy day without getting into an accident that's already one thing to be thankful for but we don't notice it because it's something so small. Start noticing the small little things in life and be thankful for them and not only the big things.
