March Winner: "A Sudden Passing" by Anon
It could’ve been an hour or a day
I can’t tell how long we’ve been walking
But the view is to die for
Unfortunately it was an untimely death
To early for my taste
I’d prefer if she had had a chance to see her daughter grow and thrive
Though I suppose it was inevitable
The grief shrouds our path in a thick clouded haze
We come to a stop and she asks me to stay behind
With hesitation I agree, not as if I had a choice, not as if I enjoyed her company
But it was nice of her to ask
I hope she found heaven, or whatever she practiced in that church
I hope all those opinions did her justice
I hope she earned her place and made it to the gate
With our differences aside, she was alright
I guess
"A lovely car, is a lovely car, is a lovely night" by Anon
The orange cone is knocked over once again
As soon as the bumper touched that devilish thing
My eyes swelled and I couldn’t see anything
Unsatisfied and distraught but I’ll get it on the third try
And I did;
The smell of burning rubber fills my nose
A two car pile up sat across the four lane road
A burden is all it was to me
A burden is all I am to them
It is just, in that sense
An eye for an eye, useless for useless beings
We can only see through our own eyes and can only think for ourselves
At least most people
At least I find comfort in this
In driving
In a challenge
In leather seats
The evening brings reckless intent when I’m behind the wheel
Though let’s hope I don’t purposefully split the transmission in two
Headed down the highway
Opposing vehicles with paint of orange and blue
Reckless intent among the youthful tinted windows
Only regret can come from tonight
But that’s okay
At least I find comfort in this
In driving
In the cool summer breeze
In the feeling of independence
In a coffin that takes me to the moon and back in 5.9 seconds
A lovely car suits a lovely evening suits a lovely women, bliss
"Go Back" by Evelyn Reid
Stop
Take a step back
Wait a minute
Hold up
Take it down a notch
Or two
Think
And rewind
Just wait
Back it up
Don’t rush
Slow down
Hold it
Just a moment
Give a few minutes
And rewind
Patience
You have it
Now use it
The world
It’s too fast
We need to just stop
And rewind
Time doesn’t stop
Never goes back
But we can
In our minds
Go back
And rewind
Think of the past
Think of ourselves
Think how we changed
Think how the world has
Think
And rewind
Rewind
And reflect
We need to do it
To appreciate all we have
That maybe we didn’t have before
New friends
New family
New home
New times
Change is good
But remember to think
Remember the past
And rewind
"LONER-129" by Morgan
Tongue dipped,
In red wine.
Glazed over,
Glass eyes.
There’s no sound,
No desperate cry.
Apologize,
Apple of your eye.
Sour lips,
Used to be Sun kissed.
Treasure chest,
Claim that it’s missed.
Get a grip,
You need to get a grip.
Thrill ride begins,
Climb up the mountain and you
Get a buzzing feeling.
Rewind the same old tape,
To find that what
You want has gone missing.
Cut it out,
You need to cut it out.
Lonely,
Don’t you feel lonely?
Lost in the same road she’s in,
Where to, are you driving?
Who’s got the wheel all locked in?
Up the hill or off the deep end?
Take a closer look,
And you can see that,
All your morals flushed away.
Mindless thoughts alike,
Gripping it tight and you
Throw away all dignity.
Nowhere to go,
Inside, you’re all alone.
They had their chance,
The trust left long ago.
Where is your future?
No one has seen you.
Where are you hiding?
We can’t find you.
Where are you hiding?
Could you rewind the tape again?
"Flaming Falcon" by Cannoli
I wish to turn back the clock
Change my mistakes
However, time is stuck in a hard lock
It won’t open, no matter how hard you ache
Time moves on along with us
Beautiful isn’t it
We cannot change it, so let it rust
We cannot change it, so good riddance
We must look to ourselves
To our eyes
To the future
To the skies
We can’t change what happened
But we can change what will happen
Don’t let it be blacked
Let it rise like a falcon
Always remember
And learn from it
From January to December
And gain more wit
"Rewind" by Hoyin
People sometimes make a mistake and want to correct it so they think in their head “I wish I can rewind time so I did not make a mistake” but they can’t and have to live with that mistake if they rewind time they might not know how to fix that mistake or why they made that mistake but rewinding time can solve many problems in the world like forest fires might not happen or people might know where to go to be safe from a earthquake. There will be less casualties if we did learn how to rewind time.
