Dear Grade 12 Students and Parents,
This edition of our DP Newsletter focuses on the upcoming Practice and World Exams. In Advisory next week, we will be covering the IB rules and regulations related to the exam process, many of which we will be able to emulate during the Practice Exams. I have shared a link to my presentation (below) that students are encouraged to review before the start of Practice Exams.
If you haven't already, please review the "general information" and "logistics" related to the Practice Exams at the top of the Practice Exam schedule. The purpose of Practice Exams is to allow students to experience how the exams run and the expectations surrounding them. As much as possible, I run them like the World Exams so students feel comfortable knowing what they will look and feel like in May. The Practice Exams also allow students to begin the revision process and get a sense of some of the work they will need to do in preparation for the World Exams.
After the Practice Exams, students will have a full cycle of classes to discuss their Practice Exam results and experience and reflect on the work they'll need to do to prepare for the World Exams over the next month or so.
The final day for our mandatory Grade 12 classes will be April 2nd. Students are expected to be in class for all four classes on each of March 28 and 31 and April 1 and 2. During our HL seminar on April 1, I will ask students to indicate where they want their exam results sent and how to access them following the World Exams. During our HL seminar class on April 2, we will focus on information and logistics related to graduation.
I have provided an overview of the important dates in the next two months or so in the "Coming Soon" section below. We have several exciting activities coming up, so please add them to your calendars.
Both Practice Exam and World Exam schedules can be accessed HERE, please bookmark this link.
Good luck with the Practice Exams!
- Brian Hull
As noted above, the last day Grade 12s will be required to attend classes is Wednesday, April 2. In the evening, we have a teacher-supervised but student-organized Senior Night at the school.
During study leave, teachers will be in their classrooms during regularly scheduled class time. They will be leading revision activities and supporting students who wish to attend. Starting April 3, students have the option to come and go from school to attend these optional classes and meet with teachers. Students must be in uniform when at school until World Exams are over on Wednesday, May 21.
