Version 1
Version 2
This piece (Version 1 & 2) both are physical representations of what i imagine when i think of "It a great day to be a saber". i messy, chaotic, but well meaning mass of different styles, personalities, and feelings.
This brings together a couple different concepts of "ever" like everlasting. much like the ouroboros symbol in the middle. It also pulls from the evergreen types of trees wit that full name and colors. The main idea come from a persona place, evergreen was the name of the last major job my grandfather had before retirement. And the colors are based off a pair of evergreens that i had passed regularly but were cut down.
Jayden Anderson "Little Sibling"
Photoshop, 2024
I decided that I wanted to make a tribute to my little sister. I knew from the beginning that I would do one of her after knowing what we were doing. I chose her due to easy access to pictures and wanting to give her something to remind her that her brother loves her to death, even when I don't live in the house anymore.
I started with a basic solid background and similarly sized images. I worked on changing the center picture and changing the saturation a bit. Towards the end of the project I messed with textures for the background.
There is no purpose, this was made to be printed and kept at home for my sister. It's just supposed to remind her I love her no matter how far I am.
The most difficult part for me was getting the magic background deletion to work properly for me. I pushed past this by getting a picture with more defined shadows, highlights, and focus.
I'm not 100% sure on a genre, but it means a lot to me since it was made to be a gift. It falls under my style thanks to the contrast of colors and design of the background and tones.
Jayden Anderson "River Town Roots”
Photoshop, 2024
I had decided that my best course of action was to split the idea into 3 parts, the background being my hometown, or my personal background. The body is the basis of who i am, and the head is what goes through my head and what you would see under the surface.
Firsty i had made a textured background and tried for roughly 2 days to figure out the right layering and arrangement since it would be the background of the person while the background of the work was still my hometown.
A few items on it have meanings behind them, the bear claw is a representation of what i have gone through to get to where I am and how I've worked for everything I have. The moth is a representation of the love for nature I have had since I was little. The blank fire department symbol represents my upbringing as the son of an emt. The generic silhouette is a representation of how I try to keep to myself except to those I trust. And finally the water-like texture of the person represents my connection to the river I grew up next to.
The most difficult part of this piece for me was trying to get the layering right, i am more comfortable with physical mediums to work with like ceramics or canvas. However it helped me reach out to digital mediums and learn how to better work with them.
I'm not 100% sure on a genre, but it holds the importance of laying out who i am under all the stress and anxieties of life.
Jayden Anderson "Coconut Crab”
Illustrator, 2024
It started as an attempt of making a flightless parrot, however I decided that it'd be a better course of action to change my desired animal for simplicity. So in that thought I decided to make a coconut carb whose parts are made of coconuts.
Firstly I decided to use a reference to make a slightly detailed form. However i deced that the best course of action with it being made when i was far from comfortable with the media, that i use a more simplified form instead of a more complex one.
This piece has no major underlying details. It is simply a crab that I made for the sake of it, I just wanted something simple that could be easily made and give a good laugh when finished.
The most difficult part was finding the right animal for what I wanted. I wanted something that could come out funny, but fairly simple to put together.
I'm not 100% sure on a genre, but i hope gives a good double take or a laugh to people who need it
Jayden Anderson "Infographic”
Photoshop, 2024
The idea is to make a neatly formatted and easily digestible media to lean about an artist. It stayed relatively true to its original idea from the beginning. It stayed small, condensed, and put a good amount of material in a small spot.
I started with just a pink background. After I had that situated I added the artist’s face and the artwork I critiqued. Once those details were settled, I added two large blue boxes to put information. After I finished, I took information from a doc I made and transferred it to the artwork.
The piece doesn’t have any symbolism or underlying meaning. It was simply made to help teach others about an incredible artist.
While not extremely difficult, this piece made me really put together my information and different tools I have learned through the last few months.
The only main defining feature is the organized information on a semi erratic formatting, this ties into my style of freeform without much planning and working my ideas in as they come.
