When thinking for a idea to do for my personal painting I thought of my trip to Colorado. I wanted to paint this picture because i love to ski and this painting was supposed to be a personal one.
I started by painting the background a medium blue color. I did that for the sky color and that color fit with the colors of the picture really well. After that i put on transfer paper and put the picture onto the canvas. Once everything was traced i painted the tree line and started with the snow. A lot of grey and white was used to get a snow look. after i finished that i started painting myself, i used a lot more blues and a lot of mixing paint to get it to look like what it does now. After all of that i painted in the trees, clouds, and mountain to make it look more full.
This painting symbolizes me and my hobbies. I want the audience to see that i look like i enjoy skiing and think about there own hobbies when they look at my painting.
I struggled with my jacket a lot. I really struggled with trying to get the shading right and getting the puffer details right. Before i was finished it was basically all black with only a little detail for the gloves. With help from Ms Garrity i got it to look more realistic.
I did this because i wanted to do something that directly effects the time right now. with the current administration that doesn't believe in climate change i could see this becoming a way bigger problem in the next 4 years.
i first started with a combination of white, black, and grey to get the sky to look like sad and poluted. after that i used black to make the steam stacks from factories and make it close to the same color of the air to show where the pollution is coming from.
i wanted to make this to highlight that we arent the only thing living on earth. there are other living things that live and enjoy life on earth. if we keep up poulting the earth it will become mars, yes this is a real issue to worry about. also i do know that factories aren't the only factor of global warming but i just want my kids to see snowfall
it was the hardest to put the words on the painting because my hand wrighting sucks. you prob cant read what it says but it says "destroying our home slowly" and next to it is "go nuclear" because nuclear power doesnt produce greenhouse gasses.
for my baseline i painted lil shine because he was locked up at the time (hes out now). he was accused of wire fraud and was found guilty and later released on bond. he is an artist that i enjoy listening to so i thought to draw.
i started with an outline of one of his albums and only did his face. after that i tried to match the colors of the picture i was doing but it came out looking almost the exact same color and made his hat look weird, i added the red after that and called it good
if i could change something i wouldnt do a person as my baseline especially with facial features. i cant draw people to save my life much less paint in facial features.
this symbolizes the judical system decisions to lock up my artists that i listen to. like brah i dont know anyone who actually enjoys shine but me, and they had to just lock him up. why is it always the small artists that get arrested before they can blow up. i just wanted bro to be successfull
i was trying to think of something to do for so long and decided id do the northern lights because me and my mom went out and saw them not to long ago. i didnt use any pictures i just remembered some of the colors i saw and added some i didnt. I wasnt planning on putting mountains on it until like i was almost done
I started just finger painting throwing blue, green, red, and a little pink on a black background and started blending everything together. after a while it started looking like how i wanted and added white to give it more of a streaky look. once i got it too my liking i added some black mountains and make a red aura above them, touched up some lines, and called it good.
if i could change anything i wouldn't have made it so much darker before the end. at the start it was more lighter blue but i put more dark red and darker green on it and now it looks super dark and light reflected. i wouldve kept the more blue and white but i thought it wasnt complete.
this symbolizes that nature is random and tomorrow is never promised. there could be a solar storm that cooks us all alive any day, you could go to bed and never wake up, but yet we dont worry when we sleep, we dont worry about the sun, we worry about the obstacles throughout the day, and not how the day started.
