10x8, Acrylic on Canvas, 2025
This painting describes a light that most people want to see as it is a beacon of hope. The radiant color seen behind the lighthouse is that of a sunset. Representing a new hope away from storms of darkness and hopelessness. I first started this painting with an outline of black around the shore. I soon added the dark and hopeless ocean, using various dark blue and purples. I wanted the ocean to feel just as dark as the very dark shore ahead. With an empty sky and a dark presence, I had two options to keep that dark presence or to present a new light. I continued and painted a sunset peering over the ocean. This alone presents hope but not as hopeful as light from a lighthouse. I wanted this light to cast out over the ocean and sky, so I lightly using water to drown it out I painted over the sky. I think that it worked out perfectly showing the overcast of light and far it can reach it dark times.
12x8, Acrylic on Canvas, 2025
This is a painting depiction of what I would imagine to be the perfect sunset to be. I first started out with a solid background because I thought you were supoosed to a color at a time. I then soon realized a sunset is done all at once. As far as colors I went with blue, purple, red, orange and I blended them all together at once. With the blue I went with a sparkly blue just because I feel like it might at to the stars bringing an element. Moving on to the mountains I started with an outline then slowly layered white and black over it. Using these colors I think I want the audience to think of peacefulness and feel calm. I think something that I've struggled with the most would be the outline of the mountains. As I layered I found I went passed the outline several times making the mountains bigger and bigger
6x4, Water Color, 2025
This is a water color depiction of the Colorado mountains. I particularly used Blues and Blacks because I feel like Colorado has a hue of blue and dark blues around it. To get this I started with an outline in pencil then I moved to a light layer of water color pencils. finishing it off by adding light brushes of water to get more of a solid color. When Someone views a piece like this I want them to think of Colorado and its vast mountains and mountain sides. I think considering this isn't a complicated painting I didnt have any struggles as everything was pretty smooth sailing. One thing that was difficult was getting a smooth color and not splotches of dark where it should be light. This is a realistic landscape painting as it is what I depict Colorado mountains to look like.
