Artist Name "The Blackhills"
9x11, Watercolor Paint, Paintbrushes, 2025
My first idea for this piece of art was because I went to The Blackhills this summer in South Dakota. I really liked the landscape there, and there was so much beautiful scenery that I thought it might be a good idea to make a piece of art out of it. I first started out sketching the scene, with the trees and the mountains in the background. Then, I used watercolor paint to mess around with what kind of colors I wanted to use. After that I cleaned it up and finally added the sidewalk in the middle where I was walking. I used a lot of feathering for the trees to try and make them look more realistic. This artwork means a lot to me as I went with my family and it brought back many good memories that we made on this trip. I just want people to look at it and really just appreciate nature for what it was intended for. The hardest part of this artwork was that I am not good at working with realism, as this was one of the first realistic pieces of art I've ever made. The only thing that I would add to this piece of art is that I would add some trees to the left side of the painting. This is a realism art style, and the thing I like the most about it is the soft watercolors that I used.
Artist Name "City of Simplicity"
9x11, Paint Markers, Paper, Pen, Ruler, 2025
The idea behind this piece of art was that I wanted to make some sort of a city. I didn't know yet what kind of city I wanted to make, but I wanted to make one. I also wanted to use some bright colors, and have my piece of art stand out more. I first started out with making the buildings. I used a ruler to help me draw straight, and went over that with thicker sharpie to make the lines pop. Then I erased the pencil marker, and started coloring the buildings. I wanted to make some of the buildings colorful, but then leave some of the others white. This artwork is just simple. It's not supposed to twist your mind and make you think, it is almost calming by how simple it is. There is little to no meaning behind it, but I just wanted to make a type of city, because I love the cities that I have been to. I think the hardest part of this artwork was staying in the lines when coloring. This was hard because I had to be really precise and try not to get into any of the white. This style of art of somewhat of surreal because it does look like a city, but not a super realistic one with all of the bright colors.
Artist Name "The Midnight Courts"
9x11, Paper, Black paint, Sharpie, Pen, Ruler, 2025
My idea for this artwork was to base it on something that related to tennis. I just wanted to do tennis because it is my favorite sport to play, and I am in season right now. I first started off with making the courts. I then decided to make it on top of a building, and make a city around it. Then I added the black background, and made a moon to go with it. The part that was most difficult for me was to make the lines as straight as possible for the building details. This was hard because I am not good at doing straight lines, and that is something I need to work on. This artwork means a lot to me as tennis is a big part of my life. If I am ever feeling stressed or anxious, tennis helps me get out of that mental state, and helps me to become happier. This kind of art is surreal, as it is a city, but it isn't super duper realistic, as the color sceme is black and white, instead of being able to see some color at night.
