When I was a Freshman I drew this really cool work with a few fish/ creatures from the midnight zone. It the deepest part of the ocean and has some really interesting ocean life. At this point in class I was almost stuck. I didn't know what I wanted to make. Let alone if it was going to be a panting, drawing, etc. So, when I was going through all my old work I saw my Midnight Zone drawing and thought "what if I drew a diffrent level of the ocean" Creating this work "The twilight Zone". I don't really remember how I started the drawing y Freshman year but I do remember having a really big piece of paper from the beginning. So I cut my background paper and then started on the fish. I started with the sperm whale just because I knew it would be the biggest creature. As you can tell It really the main piece of the artwork. I then did the other fish in order of oarfish, swordfish, starfish, and then goblin shark. Once I finsihed those and cut them out the drawing felt unfinished. The one I created Freshman year had a huge creature taking up the entire backspace however there wasn't anything lIke that in the twilight zone so I just added a background on the big piece of paper. The worst part about making this drawing had to be that there really wasn't any cool huge sea creatures. The biggest creature in this piece is the sperm whale. Its just a whale, its not that neat i'm afraid. Meaning I didn't want to draw all of it as it would add more blank space I couldn't cover to the drawing. The nezt difficulty I faced was I didn't make any of the creatures big enough. They all feel small and second hand to the sperm whale which is not what I wanted. I would love to consider this realistic however all the animals are slightly exaggerated to a point where they don't look real. Which I guess really is my style.

For this project I had to paint anything that related to "Empower-Her" on a drum head. This was for marching band for the February band concert. The symbol I painted is the female empowerment symbol used for protest all the way back in 1969 (when it was created). I started by creating the symbol on Canva. I then traced it out on my drum head using the projector. When I started panting it I started with the pink streak in the back which was technically the circle around the fist. I then started with a purple and painted the fist. when that was dry I started by shading the hand and I added a darker outline. When I finished that I added the highlights on the bottom and fingers. (Then everyone in band signed it). The artwork of course is suppose to symbolize female empowerment. I want the audience to think about the years Women fought for their rights and how everything we can do today is because of them. I think it also could bring more awareness to the symbol as most people don't know that there is a female empowerment symbol besides Rosie the Riveter. The hardest part of this project had to be the fingers on the fist. I feel like they just look weird. I also didn't know how I wanted to shade them. Past that I also think how in the end it looks kidn of bare. Theres not much going on. If I was going to start over I would add a lot more to the design. You could consider this piece surreal as no one has a purple fist. It also has the bottom piece connected to it. I also think it does have hints of my personal style as I love highlighting with colors that really pop on the painting. Which is why I used a light blue instead of a light purple. Over all this is a really cool piece and I'm super glad I had the opportunity to paint it.
