The 5th grade Jay Stream Feeder Orchestra consistsof 5th grade students from Carol Stream, Heritage Lakes, and Western Trails. These schools combine to form their large group orchestra during before-school rehearsals.
Now in their second year of playing their instruments, 5th grade Orchestra explores more advanced techniques, note reading, and musical concepts.
Pullout lessons are where students learn essential techniques specific to their instrument. Students will have one 30 minute lesson a week on their designated lesson days. These will take place during the school day, and they will be pulled out of class in small groups of similar instruments.
Who: Small groups (4-6 Students) of similar instruments.
What to bring: All orchestra supplies to each lesson.
When: Once a week during school, scheduled with the classroom teacher ahead of time.
Homework: Students receive homework/practice assignments that must be completed for the following lesson.
Check back in August for individual school orchestra schedules.
Morning orchestra rehearsals begin at the end of September. Students in 5th grade focus on playing more challenging music as an ensemble, and learn more expressive ways to play their instrument.
Rehearsals take place at Heritage Lakes Elementary School, and students from Carol Stream and Western Trails will be bused back to their schools in time for school.

What to Bring: All orchestra supplies and supplies for the school day.

When: Drop off starts at 7:15am, Rehearsal begins promptly at 7:30am.
All supplies should be brought to each lesson and before school rehearsal.
