February

Love is in the air!  February came quickly and the students are growing with leaps and bounds.   We celebrated Valentine's day and passed out our Valentine's to our friends.  And than we celebrated 100 days of school.  The students took 100 steps around the school.  The students created 100 day crowns and glasses.  The students took on the challenge of solving 100 math problems.

Our month of February started out strong.   We have been learning about our presidents  for a few weeks now.  We  read many books about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.   We ended the week discussing who our president is now.  We also wrote what we would do if we were Presidents of the United States.  One question that many students asked was, "why has there not been girl presidents."  A good question to touch on at home and have a nice discussion.  I hope this next generation has many strong women who want to become president.

100 Days Smarter

President's Week

In math today we talked about subtraction and  taking away from a number.  We worked on these subtraction problems in class.  The students worked on writing the equations on their slates and figuring out the answers.  We also played the disappreaing train game on our number lines too.

How to Writing/ Informational

During writing the last few months we have been working on our How to Writing .  The students pick a topic to write about.  They choose a topic they know a lot about and they write the steps in how to do that activity.  They use transition words to help go step by step to write their stories.
