December

December News

December has begun and we are in a nice groove.  I have been assessing students on their letters and sounds again and I love to see the progress they are making!  Way to go parents and kids!  We will have our Holiday Party on the last day of school before we leave for winter break.  If you have not sent in your pink form or your money please do so.  This money will help pay for two fun holiday parties.  We have two room parents that will share  the roll of planning and executing the parties.

Math Night

Thank you to the many parents and students that were able to attend Math night.  We hope everyone learned more about what the kindergarten students are doing here during math time.   We hope the math night bag provided you with many math activates for you to play with at home.

Play time in Kindergarten!

Flay Tarky Project

Flat Tarky is here and we need your help!! Check out our new project for Tarkington School.   Read through the slides and sign up for a Tarky and take him with you on some trip or to a college.  We are looking for many places in our community for Tarky to visit.  Maybe your picture will be posted!  I'd love for Kindergarten to have the most Tarky pictures!

Math Time

This week in math we worked on ordering our numbers from 1-20.  It was a good activity for students to recognize numbers and see which numbers would be greater than and less then a number.    We than worked in groups to order our numbers from 1-100.  This was a very difficult task.  The students asked to continue this activity after specials time.  We did just that and the students were able to work together to create a 100 chart with numbers.  I was very proud of their determination and cooperative work.

Holiday's Around the world

This week we are learning about Holiday's Around the world.  What new traditions  and cultures other families have for the Holiday's.  We are learning about the foods others eat and the traditions families have.

Reading Stations

Our December Writing is really progressing!  We are working on writing "how to stories."  The students  need to sequence their stories and than come up with transition words in their writing.  The students are slowing growing with the phonic awareness and their writing.  Continue to practice this when they are at home over break as well.

Gingerbread Week

This week we read many gingerbread books.  We played gingerbread games during stations and played on gingerbread games on our computers too.

Holiday Winter Party

We had so much fun at our winter party.  We played games, listened to holiday music and made a craft!  Thank you to our room parents for making the day enjoyable.
