April

April showers bring May flowers.

Welcome to April and Spring.  We started into the third trimester with a bang, right after spring break.  We started by working on our teen numbers during math time.  We practiced spinning teen numbers and counting out the items.

During literacy this week we read stories about feelings.  We talked about our zones of regulation and color we were feeling.  Each of the stories this week touched on different feelings.

Eclipse of 2024

What an amazing experience the students had this year.  We were able to watch the eclipse together as a class.  We did many eclipse activities revolving around eclipses and learning more about what an eclipse was.

2/D  and 3/D shapes suing toothpicks and marshmallows

During math time we have been learning about 2/D shapes and 3/D shapes.  We explored making these shapes and naming the shapes we made.

Social Studies

We have been learning about the Past, Present and future in social studies this week.  We discussed how we have learned from the past and how we have used with this information today.  We discussed the titanic and traffic lights and what wisdom we have gained from both of these.

Tarkington school has been working very hard on making connections  and building our Tarkington Community.   One way that the staff discussed was to have an assembly and to bring all the school together.  We played Kahoot and were partnered up with another classroom to answer the questions.  The students had a ton of fun answering questions about our school Tarkington.

Bernie's Book Bank

Look at us!  Bernie's Book Bank donated books to every child in this school.  What an amazing organization.  Please feel free to help or donate to this wonderful organization.

This week we read a story about cookies.  We read a story called, The doorbell rang..  Each time the doorbell rang the characters in the story needed to share the cookies their grandma had made them.  We divided the cookies for each of the characters as we read the story.
