Welcome to IB HL Language and Literature! This is a really exciting course that allows you to have a lot of autonomy in your learning. You will have more choice, more freedom, and more control over your assessments. The course is structured in a way that enables you to make links between the texts you read and the world you live in, both locally and globally. You are also able to prepare for your assessments in a way that removes a lot of the stress and unknowns. This will help you to make the most of your learning. Most exciting, the inclusion of the "Learner Portfolio" gives every student a space to explore, explain and demonstrate what they've learned, reflect and make connections in independent and creative ways. This portfolio replaces some of the more structured assessments from the old course which means you have more creative freedom and fewer constraints on how you demonstrate your learning.
We will spend the first week of class unpacking how we will proceed through the course, exploring the student handbook, and looking at different components and assessments before we dive into the course content.
