Your second year of School-Supported Self-Taught will be focused on preparing for your Paper 1 and Paper 2 exams. The remainder of your studies will be focused on the mother tongue texts remaining on your reading list.
We will spend approximately 4 weeks studying each of the remaining works we will cover this year. We will begin with our final work in translation, followed by detailed study of your remaining mother tongue texts with your tutor.
We will end the year with approximately 8 weeks of directed exam preparation. Class sessions will be focused on looking at the assessment rubrics, expectations, and structure of the exams.
Your tutor sessions will be focused on reviewing sample papers, writing practice exams, and receiving detailed feedback on your work from your tutors.
We have two scheduled SSST lessons each week. Typically one of these lessons will be for meeting with your tutor or completing tutor assigned work, and the other will be a class where we explore texts, assessments, and approaches to studying literature. This will vary depending on what we are studying at the time. When we are preparing for particular assessment tasks, we may spend both lessons together, and when there is a stronger focus on studying mother tongue texts, you may use this time to work on tutor assigned work.
You should expect to be on campus and in class for both sessions unless you have made other arrangements with Ms. Zeiler.
SSST lesson schedule is below:
Thursday P3 (10:50-11:45)
Friday P6 (2:25-3:20)
Attendance is mandatory. Any absences will affect your required 90% attendance requirement for graduation.
Each work in translation and assessment focus will have a separate page on the drop down menu where you can find an overview of lessons, useful resources and class assignments.
