We will be studying 1 work in translation during the 2 year SSST course as a class. All students in the course will be reading the same works in translation in their own individual languages. Through our study of these texts, you will be asked to further develop your understanding of different perspectives of people from other cultures and to consider the role that culture plays in making sense of literary works. You will deepen your understanding of works as being products of a time and place. Artistic, philosophical, sociological, historical and biographical considerations are possible areas of study to enhance understanding of the works.
You will also be studying one additional work in translation in Year 12 that is chosen by you and your tutor.
How do works in translation connect to the assessments in the course?
It is a requirement that one of the two texts you choose for your Individual Oral (Internal assessment) must be a work in translation. By the end of Year 12 you will have read two texts in translation. One of the these two texts must be included in your Individual oral.
Individual pages for each of the works in translation we will study can be found in the dropdown menu under the "Works in Translation" tab.
