Located in Midlothian, Virginia, the James River High School Orchestra proudly holds the esteemed title of a VMEA Blue Ribbon School of Music. Our orchestra comprises talented violinists, violists, cellists, and bassists hailing from grades 9-12, encompassing a range of intermediate through advanced players. Our commitment to excellence shines through our consistent achievement of the highest rating, "superior," at VBODA District 3 Orchestra Assessment.

Our repertoire showcases a captivating blend of musical genres, from timeless classical compositions to the enchanting melodies of world music. Through our commitment to exploring a myriad of musical styles, we aim to create a concert experience that resonates with all listeners. Whether it's the familiar embrace of a classical masterpiece or the allure of a world music composition, our orchestra's repertoire invites you to embark on a musical odyssey that transcends boundaries and speaks to the universal language of emotions. 

The members of our orchestra have distinguished themselves by actively participating in renowned musical endeavors, including the Central Regional Orchestra, All-Chesterfield Orchestra, and VBODA District 3 Solo & Ensemble Assessment.

Beyond the realm of music, the JRHS Orchestra serves as a nurturing and inclusive community that fosters creativity, emotional expression, and meaningful social connections.
