Lesson 3.3: Emotions
How do you figure out how a person feels? What ways do you use to figure it out?
Take a look at the pictures in the book. Find three pictures that show you an emotion. How do you know?
Name some emotions: List them.

Discuss: What tells you the emotion of each emoji? Could they have two emotions at once? List some good emotion words and ask kids to act out.
Create a two emotion Emoji.
Lesson 3.4: Reading People and Making Assumptions
Show the face of a family member when they were mad: Look around.
What similarities do you see?
How about really happy? How about sad?
We learn how to read people by reflecting on our experience with emotion. So when you see people smiling, you think they are happy.
Could people hide how they feel with a smile?
Define the word intentions: A plan that a person has in their head for what they are going to do.
Can people hide their intentions?
Introduce the following terms: Intuitive, generalize and projection. Define and apply them to today’s lesson.

Lesson 3.5: Uniqueness (part 1)
Watch: "We are all different"
Discuss contrast and similarity. What do they mean? How does that play out with friends?
Use the three squares to make a person. Small square create a head with a face. Medium square - create the legs. Large square make the torso. Create each and make them colorful
Lesson 3.6: Uniqueness (part 2)
Get a head, torso and legs from the pile. You may not have your own pieces back.
Tape the pieces together.
Name your person.
Use 3 adjectives to describe your person.
Your class needs to help you come up with words.
Talents, skill etc.
Discuss judging people by their looks. Many times we generalize our past and project it onto experiences and people without giving people a chance.
Lesson 3.7: Virtues and Vices
Explain the words: Moral - Definition: A standard of behavior that is acceptable or unacceptable.
Virtue- Definition: behavior showing high moral standards.
Vice - Definition: really immoral (bad) behavior.
What is one thing about yourself that you would like to change?
What is one thing about yourself that you think is really cool?

Who did you like in the story? Why?
Who did you dislike? Why?
Big question:
· Do you ever show any of the same vices as the person that you chose?
· How could you fix it?
*Allowed students to come up with list of adjectives describing the young girl. Told them that this list is actually how each of them came into the world. Discussed the idea of a snow globe with muddy water…stuff happens that fills us up with ideas about ourselves that’s not real. We try to solve problems without seeing the real problems.
African tribe that circles a naughty person helping a person to remember who they are. Help each other remember who they are when you see them doing the wrong thing.
Lesson 3.8: Learning to communicate.
Some people get really nervous when being around other people and having to talk.

Do you ever think things about yourself that you never really tell anyone?
Write down something that you think about yourself that no one really knows. You will not be called on to share it. You may share but you do not have to.
