I am the world language instructional coordinator for Aurora Public Schools. I have over 25 years of experience in education as a Spanish teacher (elementary through college), world language coordinator, and school administrator. I have served in a variety of roles on the boards of the Utah Foreign Language Association (UFLA), Professional Language Association of Nevada (PLAN), Southwest Conference on Language Teaching (SWCOLT), and ACTFL. I am interested in serving on the CCFLT board to further the mission of the organization and to increase the status of world language learning in the state of Colorado. I have experience in planning and presenting professional learning, teacher mentoring, and in implementing the Seal of Biliteracy. I would be honored to be able to share my talent with the membership of CCFLT. I am an avid reader, I love to travel, and I enjoy spending time with my two cocker spaniels. As a newbie to Colorado, I am excited to partake of the rich cultural opportunities available in the state.

Hello. I am Kristen Shields and I am a 16 year teacher but brand new to Colorado. I have been involved in my previous county when I first became a teacher and it was a great opportunity to get in touch with teachers in and out of my district. I have plenty of leadership experience and have served as a past President of the Pinellas County World Language Teachers Association. I teach Spanish and I work well with others and would love to collaborate to help make this association a great one.
Hello!! I currently teach at Manitou Springs High School, OSU and NMSU. I am a native Spanish speaker from Mexico. I learned English and French as a teenager-adult and I think I understand the student's struggles to learn a foreign language. I love science, I am also an equine veterinarian in Mexico and I love research and reading articles with new techniques to engage students in the classroom and online. I think making class interesting, relevant and fun is important to motivate students to continue to learn a language past the school requirements. I also travel with students and love to watch them using what they learned in class in a real life situation while we do community service. I have been a teacher for 12 years, and completed my doctorate in Curriculum Development for secondary schools. Some of my hobbies are reading, traveling, hiking and cooking.
Hello all! I am in my 5th year as a Spanish at Sagewood Middle School and am department chair, run a Spanish Jr. Honor society, and help the theater program as Tech Director and accent coach. Though I may lack the experience that comes from many years of teaching, I come with my own perspective from my own unique experiences so far in my career. I am working on a masters in CLDE slowly but surely, and have worked hard to develop my program and continually strive for better.
As a passionate language teacher, I love facilitating multilingualism in young people and adults! I am in my twenty-fifth year teaching secondary CLDE and Spanish (I’ve taught both off and on throughout my career.) I’m the world language department chair at Vista Ridge High School in Colorado Springs, as well as the Seal of Biliteracy Chair for the district. I am dedicated to encouraging everyone to learn new languages. I love to travel the world, and learn about new cultures. I’ve served on the CCFLT board of directors for the past few years, and look forward to more years of promoting languages in Colorado by serving on this board again!
As a dedicated non-native Mandarin Chinese teacher with experience in high school and elementary settings in Colorado, I am eager to bring my passion for language education to the board of CCFLT. My primary focus is promoting high-quality professional development that encourages teachers to choose this profession and remain committed to it. As an early career educator, I believe in the importance of learning from one another and sharing valuable teaching practices. CCFLT has played a pivotal role in my journey since I began as a graduate student seven years ago, and I would be ecstatic to give back as a board member. My experience on the DCTA Board has equipped me with transferable skills that are highly relevant to this position. Additionally, I have served as a site coordinator for a local conference and am excited about the opportunity to assist in planning CCFLT's conferences.
Hola-Hello
Soy Sra. Stegeman!
My love of languages started at DEvelyn JR/SR with Sra. Vigil. For the past 22 years I have taught with her passion because that’s where it all started! I want to run for the board as I finally have a bit more time to improve my career to finish strong and leave a positive mark. I am a stepmom of a Jeffco graduate 2021, have helped thousands of students in my tenure, have 2 adopted teenagers who are currently DRHS sophomores and they have been my heart best for 7 years, but they are involved in sports and almost driving so it’s time for a lane change and CDE credit hours! I bring energy, enthusiasm and 100% dedication to whatever is in front of me. I speak English and Spanish but live for all languages in music form!
