One of our primary goals in 5th grade is to make sure students have a firm understanding of the elements of music and are prepared to use those skills in middle school and beyond. They also get to develop their musicianship through playing the ukulele and recorder, doing a deep dive into music of the 20th century and gaining a better understanding of their own musical preferences and abilities.Â
