Hi, 2nd graders! My name is Ms. Cermenaro, and I am beyond excited to be your new teacher this year! I am embarking on my 16th year of teaching and have taught 2nd grade for the last three years. I was in 4th grade for the previous two years and in Kindergarten for nine years beforehand here at Stevens Creek Elementary. I also taught one year of Pre-K at Baker Place Elementary School before coming to Stevens Creek.
Before entering the school system in Columbia County, I taught science when living in Atlanta and at the National Science Center’s Fort Discovery in downtown Augusta for several years. Science is my true passion, and I am eagerly anticipating an exciting year together. I can’t wait to get to know all about you, but first, here are a few more things I’d like to share about myself!
I graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in biology in 2000. (Go Dawgs!) I moved back to Augusta after having my daughter in 2007, and I obtained my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Augusta University. This past summer, I began my journey of obtaining my Specials degree, and I know firsthand what it is like to be a student again!
Second grade is such an exciting time, and I have no doubt that we are going to have a SUPER school year, filled with lots of learning fun, and making some lasting new friends! I have always been passionate about teaching and helping others, and I look forward to learning and growing with you this school year!
Second grade, get ready! Here we come!
