Throughout the experiential learning journey of Field Study 1 and 2, I gained invaluable insights into my future profession. Taking a step into this new phase of learning demanded courage and resilience, as well as a commitment to collective effort, collaboration, eagerness, and passion to achieve specific goals.
Reflecting on my experiences at Bolo Norte National High School, I witnessed firsthand the true essence of being an educator. I observed numerous tasks and responsibilities that teachers handle daily, tasks I once thought were simple but are, in fact, quite challenging. Being a teacher goes beyond imparting knowledge; it also involves guiding students towards positive paths. My collaboration with my resource teachers taught me countless lessons and reinforced the reality that teaching is not an easy profession. To be an effective teacher, one must be creative, patient, and perseverant, earning the trust of students to inspire their learning and future success.
In Field Study 2, which focused on participation and assistantship, I delved deeper into the daily activities of teachers. This phase allowed me to apply the theories and concepts I learned at CBSUA and through Field Study 1. Engaging in tasks like lesson planning, classroom management, and student assessments, I experienced the rigorous demands of teaching firsthand. These experiences highlighted the exhausting nature of the profession and underscored the necessity of motivation and dedication to persevere.
At times, it was disheartening to deal with unruly students who showed little interest in learning. However, the commitment to the teaching profession requires performing one’s duties with wholehearted dedication. Through participation in various school activities, I gained a broader understanding of the multifaceted role of teachers. This included not only instructing students but also mentoring, counseling, and supporting them in their overall development.
Overall, Field Study 1 and 2 were transformative, equipping me with practical knowledge and a deeper understanding of the realities and demands of the teaching profession. The journey reaffirmed my commitment to becoming a compassionate and effective educator, ready to face challenges with determination and heart.
