The Calabanga National School of Arts and Trades (CNSAT) Library was established in 1980, initially located in the U-type building and under the stewardship of the late Atty. Pelagio Señar as Librarian. In 1987, Mrs. Salve Formalejo succeeded him and remained in this role until her retirement. During these formative years, the library underwent multiple relocations before finally settling on the second floor of the Education Building.
On October 12, 2009, the institution achieved university status, transforming from the Camarines Sur State Agriculture College to the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) through R.A. 9717.
After Mrs. Formalejo's retirement, Mr. Mark Anthony E. Eva assumed the role of Librarian. During his tenure, he oversaw the library's accreditation process to support the College's diverse curricular programs, collaborating with the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).
March 2, 2019, marked a significant milestone as the library moved to a new building, completed with a project cost of Php 9,083,761.73, funded by the General Appropriations Act of 2015 and 2017, under the leadership of Campus Administrator Helen L. Madela and University President Alberto N. Naperi. This modern facility boasts a spacious area of 921 square meters strategically positioned adjacent to the Education Building.
Presently, the library is under the capable management of Mr. Lowell P. Francisco, the College Librarian, supported by a team of licensed librarians, administrative staff, and student assistants.
The library offers cutting-edge information and communication technology (ICT) resources, including computers with internet connectivity, facilitating research endeavors. These ICT resources are pivotal in simplifying research processes, granting easy access to various subscribed and open-source research databases within the library premises.
Additionally, the University Library provides essential tools for accessing its diverse resources, including electronic ready reference materials and a computerized catalog. The College Librarian skillfully manages these resources in collaboration with library support staff and student assistants.
Regarding infrastructure, the University Library offers a spacious environment to house an extensive collection of books, reading materials, dedicated library staff, and patrons. The library's design carefully considers proper lighting, ventilation, and aesthetics. Adequate lighting between shelves and cabinets maximizes visibility, ensuring a conducive learning environment. Proper ventilation supports health and safeguards the integrity of the library's holdings, preventing moisture-related damage to books and materials. Aesthetically pleasing combinations of light and color enhance the library's ambiance, further promoting an ideal setting for learning and research for its patrons.
