The summer reading challenge from the library service has been launched again and is designed to keep children engaged and interested in reading. The Challenge encourages children to enjoy the benefits of reading for pleasure over the summer holidays, providing lots of fun as well as preventing the summer reading ‘dip’. This year, the theme for the Summer Reading Challenge is all about getting CREATIVE.
All you need to do is sign up for this year’s Summer Reading Challenge for FREE at a local library! The children are invited to set a reading goal and collect rewards for their reading. It’s completely FREE to take part. Not only do they receive rewards as they read, they also receive a summer reading challenge certificate which is presented to them in school.
Why should my child sign up?
They will be better prepared to return to school in the autumn.
The Challenge supports the move into a new year group.
Becoming more independent in their reading boosts children’s confidence and self-esteem.
The library provides free access to books and fun family activities all through the summer.
Library staff are on hand to offer support and book recommendations.
Happy reading everyone!
