Dear Parents and Carers,
As we come to the close of another busy and rewarding school year, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the many successes and proud moments we’ve shared with the children, staff, parents and carers.
Celebrating Success – On and Off the Field
We are incredibly proud of our children’s accomplishments this year, both in the classroom and beyond. Our values are the bedrock of all our achievements and our school community has certainly demonstrated Perseverance, Friendship , Thankfulness and Wisdom with a real passion and a commitment to do our best and achieve all that we can.
Sporting Achievements
Our football and netball teams have truly shone this year. The football teams displayed fantastic teamwork and determination with the boys and girls teams winning the local school’s competitions.
Meanwhile, our netball team showed great skill and spirit, going undefeated in their tournament and winning the parents V children’s match at Selby High School. A huge well done to all our players – and thank you to the staff and parents who have helped with transport and cheered them on!
Academic Excellence
Across the school, we’ve seen outstanding progress and effort in all areas of learning. Our Year 6 pupils have achieved very good SATs results, reflecting their hard work and the dedication of our teaching staff.
It has also been wonderful to see so many children developing a love of learning and especially reading.
Growing Together
This year we’ve focused on our 5 ways to flourish (Take notice, Connect, Be active, Give and Keep Learning. It’s been heartening to see children supporting one another, taking on new challenges, and contributing to our wider community through charity work, church links, and eco initiatives.
As always, I want to thank you – our families – for your continued support and partnership. We are truly blessed to have such a strong and caring school community.
Wishing you all a safe, restful, and happy summer. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September for another exciting year ahead.
Warm regards,
Nick Payling

As the academic year draws to a close, I find myself filled with admiration and gratitude for everything this school community has achieved — and with a touch of emotion, I also prepare to step down from my role as Chair of Governors after 6 rewarding years on the board of governors.
This has been a year of teamwork and resilience. Whether it’s the brilliant performances on stage, the sporting victories, the inspiring classroom moments, or the quiet acts of kindness that never go unnoticed — our pupils, staff, and families have truly made this year one to remember.
To our incredible teachers and support staff: thank you for your unwavering dedication. You’ve gone above and beyond to nurture curiosity and confidence in every child. The progress and joy I’ve witnessed across the school are a testament to your hard work.
To parents and carers: your continued partnership and support enrich our school in countless ways. A heartfelt thank you for being an essential part of this journey.
And to our pupils: you are the heart of everything we do. Whether you’re heading off to new adventures or returning in September, continue to aim high, ask big questions, and be kind. Your energy, creativity, and compassion make our school a truly special place.
As I pass the baton to the next Chair of Governors, I do so with confidence and pride. The school is in excellent hands, and I look forward to cheering it on from a new vantage point. Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving this community — it has been a great joy.
Wishing you all a joyful summer and a bright start to the next chapter.
Warmest regards,
Dr Rachel Bibby
Chair of Governors
Thank you to everybody that shopped at Tesco between January and March and kept popping the blue tokens into our fundraising vote. You may remember we were awarded second place and our project successfully selected to receive £1000.
We agreed that somewhere the children could sit and relax to either talk or read a book would be a perfect addition and the grant paid for these wonderful Teepees.
They have been a very welcome addition at breaktimes and the children love them!
Thank you everybody !
