Digital Learning Planning Cycle

The Digital Learning Framework has been developed to assist schools in effectively embedding digital technologies in learning, teaching and assessment.

The Digital Learning Planning Cycle consists of six steps. These steps provide a process for schools and individual teachers to engage in when reviewing and formulating a plan to enhance their DL practices.

The first three steps are the investigation phase while steps 4 to 6 focus on the creation, implementation and evaluation of the DL Plan.

We use the Digital Learning Framework and the digital learning planning process as represented by this graphic. For further information visit dlplanning.ie .

SELFIE (Self-reflection on Effective Learning by Fostering the use of Innovative Educational technologies) is a free tool designed to help schools embed digital technologies into teaching, learning and assessment. SELFIE has a strong basis in research and was developed based on the European Commission framework on promoting digital-age learning in educational organisations.

SELFIE anonymously gathers the views of students, teachers and school leaders on how technology is used in their school. This is done using short statements and questions and a simple 1-5 answer scale.

Based on this input, the tool generates a report – a snapshot (‘SELFIE’ :-)) of a school‘s strengths and weaknesses in their use of technology.

We use SELFIE together with focus groups and review meetings to gather quantitative and qualitative data to inform our digital learning planning process. For further information visit SELFIE.
